The U-23 European Wrestling Championship, organized in Zrenjanin, Serbia, continues today.
Idman.Biz reports that Azerbaijani Greco-Roman wrestlers will join the competition on the fifth day of the tournament.
In the qualification stage, Farid Sadigli (55 kg) will face Czech Filip Bartosik, Ilkin Gurbanov (63 kg) will face Turkish Enes Ülkü, Ravan Nuriyev (77 kg) will face Belarusian Kiril Valevski, and Aykhan Mardanov (130 kg) will face Greek Achilleas Chrisidis. Said Akhundzade (87 kg) will compete against Romanian Patrik Iulian Gordan in the 1/8 finals.
Among the female wrestlers, Ruzanna Mammadova (62 kg) will compete for a gold medal. She will face Russian Amina Tandelova in the decisive match.
It should be noted that Azerbaijan has won a total of 10 medals in the competition so far. Ali Tsokayev (92 kg) and Gunay Gurbanova (59 kg) became European champions. Jeyhun Allahverdiyev (61 kg), Vasif Bagirov (57 kg), Sabuhi Amiraslanov (79 kg), Yusif Dursunov (125 kg) and Gultekin Shirinova (55 kg) won silver medals, while Musa Agayev (65 kg), Ramik Heybatov (70 kg), and Zafar Aliyev (97 kg) won bronze medals.
The European Championship will end on March 15.
