"Of course, like everyone, I want to play in the best clubs in the world and at the highest level. I think this is a normal desire. This does not mean that I do not want to play in "Qarabağ" or Azerbaijan".
These words were said by "Qarabağ" goalkeeper Mateusz Kołalski.
The 26-year-old goalkeeper commented on the widespread discussion of his offer to English clubs in an interview with The Sun after their 2:3 defeat to Newcastle in the Champions League play-off round.
Kołalski noted that his idea was misunderstood and that he did not want to say he was leaving.
"I didn't say I was leaving "Qarabağ". No, that's not the case. I just want to play in the Premier League," he said in a statement to teleqraf.az.
Kołalski also spoke about the 6:0 victory over Araz-Nakhchivan in the 23rd round of the Azerbaijan Premier League: "Finally, we got a good result. We scored 6 goals and kept our goal untouched. I am very happy. Of course, three points are very important to us. I am very happy and I hope that our team will play the same way or better in the next game".
It should be noted that Mateusz Kołalski, who was transferred to "Qarabağ" in 2024, will have his contract expire in the summer of 2027.
