The "Grand Slam" judo tournament kicked off today in Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia.
Idman.biz reports that all three athletes of the Azerbaijani national team competed on the first day of the competition. They left the tournament without awards.

Balabey Agayev defeated Mendsaikhan Nyamsuren (Mongolia) in the 1/8 finals, but then lost to Hayato Kondo (Japan).
Turan Bayramov also started the "Grand Slam" with a victory. Our representative, who eliminated Sumiyabazar Enkhtaivan (Mongolia), failed to cope with Mehrzod Sufiev (Tajikistan) in the 1/4 finals.
Agayev and Bayramov competed against each other in the consolation match. Turan emerged victorious from the Azerbaijani duel in Ulaanbaatar. He tested his strength against Iznaur Saaev (AIN) for the bronze medal. Bayramov lost and took 5th place.

Elshan Asadov defeated Tsandanj Unurbat (Mongolia), then Bogdan Yadov (Ukraine), but lost to Baurzhan Narbayev (Kazakhstan) in the 1/4 finals. He faced Jihyuk Yang (South Korea) in the consolation match, and the opponent was strong. Asadov finished the "Grand Slam" in 7th place.
It should be noted that the competition will last 3 days.
