Azerbaijani judokas finished the European Championship among adults held in Montenegro with 5 medals.
Idman.biz reports that our team won 1 silver and 4 bronze medals at the continental competition held in Podgorica.
Zelim Kotsoyev, who competed in the 100 kg weight category, won a silver medal. Ahmad Yusifov (60 kg), Rashid Mammadaliyev (73 kg), Zelim Tckaev (81 kg) and Murad Fatiyev (90 kg) won bronze medals.
Ushangi Kokauri (+100 kg) finished the tournament in 5th place, and Turan Bayramov (60 kg) finished in 7th place. The team also participated in the mixed team competition at the prestigious tournament.
In the end, Azerbaijan took 10th place in the overall team standings among 47 countries according to the value of the medals, and 5th place among men.
It should be noted that all our prize-winners except Zelim Kotsoyev were medalists of the European Championship among adults for the first time in their careers. For the first time in the history of Azerbaijani judo, our athletes climbed the podium in five different weight categories at the continental competition. Our country was represented by 15 judokas (9 men, 6 women) in 12 weight categories at the European Championship.
