The National Gymnastics Arena hosted an exciting competition among sports gymnasts from May 14 to 16.
İdman.Biz reports that both women and men competed for the championship in the "AGF Trophy" tournament, which was attended by about 50 gymnasts from 5 countries. Gymnasts performed in junior and senior age categories.
Our country was represented at this tournament by Nazanin Teymurova, Deniz Aliyeva, Ayten Mammadova and Khadija Abbaszade in the senior age category among women, Albina Aliyeva, Leyla Mammadzade, Aynaz Majidzade and Lala Zamanli among juniors, and Rasul Ahmadzade, Aydin Alizade and Nikita Simonov in the senior age category among men, and Miryusif Ahmadzade, Ilham Salayev, Mahir Salimov, Iskandar Javadzade and Muhammad Rustamzade among juniors.
On the first day of the tournament, gymnasts in the junior age category were awarded in the team event and all-around program.
Both our female and male gymnasts won bronze medals in the team event. In the individual all-around program, Leyla Mammadzade won the bronze medal among women.
On the second day, gymnasts in the senior age category demonstrated their performances in the all-around. In the all-around award ceremony, Rasul Ahmadzade won a gold medal among men, and Khadija Abbaszade won a bronze medal among women.
The last day of the competition was memorable with the excitement of the finals. Gymnasts in the junior and senior age categories completed their final performances on individual apparatus. Our gymnasts achieved success in the finals.
In the junior age category, Ilham Salayev won a bronze medal in the floor exercise program. Leyla Mammadzade won three bronze medals in vault, uneven bars and floor exercise program.
In the senior age category, Rasul Ahmadzade won gold in pommel horse and horizontal bar, Deniz Aliyeva won gold in vault, silver in uneven bars, Nikita Simonov won gold in rings, Nazanin Teymurova won gold in balance beam, and Aydin Alizade won bronze in parallel bars.
Thus, our gymnasts finished the tournament with a total of 16 medals.
