Interview of Veli Gafarov, the goalkeeper of our national minifootball team, to Futbolxeber.az
- You started the World Championship in Baku with a draw (1:1). What prevented you from winning the match against Bahrain?
- The first games are always difficult. It's okay. Our goal is to play in the final. Therefore, we will slowly sit down, analyze our performance in the first match, and prepare for the next matches.
- Although you speak optimistically, the team didn't stand out in the first match. It's as if you are not ready for the World Championship at all...
- I wouldn't say we are not ready. As a spectator, your expectations are always high. As a member of the team, I can say that we are calm, we know our job. Such things happen in football.
- So, it turns out that our national team didn't want to show all their cards in the first match? Do you think it is possible to pass the group stage with one leg?
- I agree. Of course, we can't show everything from the first match involuntarily. We are only one of the favorites. There are other favorites as well, and we must take them into account.
- How do you assess the support of the fans?
- I am grateful to them for their support. We couldn't win the first match. But we will do our best to make them happy in the next matches.
- In the other 7 matches held on the first day of the World Championship, was there any surprise result for you?
- I think everything is going as it should be so far. We haven't encountered any serious surprises.
