Davud Karimi, former goalkeeper of the Azerbaijani national mini-football team, shared his thoughts on the World Championship held in Baku.
The experienced player gave an interview to "Report" about this.
He stated that he watched several matches on the first day of the competition:
"Most of the teams have come really well prepared. Bahrain, who drew (1:1) with our national team, can also be added to the list. It was clear on the field that they had also undergone good preparation. They played with excellent and tight defense and preferred counterattacks. This was the first match of our national team. There may be some stress and excitement. Expectations from the team are also high. Some of our players' games did not go as they wanted. But I believe that they will perform better in the next matches and make us happy."
He also spoke about being awarded together with Tural Narimanov, Seymur Mammadov, and Bakhtiyar Soltanov before the match:
"I thank the president of the Azerbaijan Minifootball Federation Orkhan Mammadov, executive vice-president Taleh Nasibov, and all the employees of the organization. It is both joyful and sad. We were happy that they made a nice gesture for us. But we are sad that it is time to leave the team. I could have participated in this World Championship because it is being held in Azerbaijan, and I had the strength. But it is for the best."
It should be noted that the World Championship will end on June 1. Davud Karimi became the European champion with the Azerbaijani national team in 2022.
