Davud Karimi, former goalkeeper of the Azerbaijani mini-football team, assessed the chances in the semi-final match of the World Championship against Montenegro, which will be held today.
In an interview with "Report", he stated that Montenegro is seriously preparing for the match.
The goalkeeper considers the Azerbaijani national team as the favorite:
"We have always won against Montenegro in both friendly matches and international competitions. This year, the team has really prepared seriously for the World Championship. They defeated a team like the Czech Republic and reached the semi-finals. My favorites in the competition were the national teams of Serbia and the Czech Republic. These teams could give us a headache. Thankfully, Montenegro defeated the Czech Republic, and things became a little easier for us. If they have conceded only 1 goal in 5 games, it means they are serious opponents. Nevertheless, I consider the Azerbaijani national team as the favorite and see them as the winner of the World Championship".
He said that Montenegro prefers counter-attacks:
"Montenegro is a very tough team. They do not allow dangerous situations to be created in front of their goal. They prefer counter-attacks. Their number 9 player (Andrey Padera) plays very well. It would be good if they pay attention to him. I think that the coaching staff of our national team has also conducted analyzes and informed the players about this. I hope we will not let the opponent open their eyes".
D. Karimi emphasized that one of the strongest opponents in the World Championship is Serbia:
"One of the strongest teams among the semi-finalists is the Serbian national team. They are the current European champions and play very well. They scored 5 goals against Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 1/4 final. This shows their strength".
It should be noted that the Azerbaijan-Montenegro match will start at the National Gymnastics Arena at 20:00.
