"Hajduk" club, Zira's opponent in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League, was founded in 1911.
According to "Report", the team representing the city of Split was founded by a group of young people studying in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic, at that time, and the team was named "Hajduk".
The team nicknamed "Sea Lords" has been playing its home games at the "Poljud" stadium with a capacity of 35,000 fans since 1979. The 114-year-old club has no significant success in continental cups. The team competed in the 1/4 finals at best.
The team, which has been Yugoslav champion 9 times and Croatian champion 6 times, is currently coached by Spanish specialist Gonzalo Garcia. "Hajduk", headed by Marin Brbic, qualified to participate in the Conference League by taking the third place with 63 points in the national championship last season.
Looking at the team's squad, you can see Ivan Rakitic, who once won the Champions League with "Barcelona". The 37-year-old midfielder, who has been involved in the team since last year, also defended the honor of the Croatian national team from 2007 to 2019.
"Hajduk"'s main team has never faced Azerbaijani representatives in international competitions. Only the team of football players under 19 years old met "Gabala" in the first stage of the UEFA Youth League in 2022. Both matches (3:0, 2:1) ended in favor of the opponent.
It should be noted that the second qualifying round matches of the UEFA Conference League will be held on July 24 and 31. "Zira" will play the first match at home and the return match away.
