Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky discussed the issue of frozen funds from the sale of the Chelsea football club during a conversation with British Prime Minister Kir Starmer. Sport24.az reports that Zelensky wrote about this on his Telegram channel:
"Kir and I discussed the need for a fair resolution to the issue of frozen funds from the sale of the Chelsea football club. This means approximately two and a half billion pounds, which can and should help Ukraine."
It should be noted that Roman Abramovich received permission to sell Chelsea in 2022 from the British government on the condition that all proceeds be used to support the victims of the events in Ukraine. However, due to legal nuances, in particular the issue of whether the funds will only be transferred to Ukrainian citizens, the funds remain frozen.
