The signing of a new contract between the Italian club "Roma" and the Turkish defender Zeki Çelik is in question.
"Report" reports, citing "Tuttomercatoweb", that negotiations between the parties have been suspended and no agreement has yet been reached with the representatives of the 29-year-old football player.
Despite the persistent demand of head coach Gian Piero Gasperini, the management does not agree with the financial terms of the player.
The main disagreement is over the salary. Çelik, who currently earns 2 million euros a year plus bonuses, demands that this amount be increased to 4 million euros in the new contract. The "Roma" management considers this request too high and has not yet made an official offer.
Zeki Çelik's current contract with the "wolves" expires on June 30, 2026. If the parties cannot reach a common denominator, the football player will leave the team as a free agent at the end of the season.
It should be noted that the experienced defender was remembered for 1 goal and 4 productive passes in 37 matches in the 2025/2026 season. The "Transfermarkt" portal estimates its value at 12 million euros.
