An interview with Zaur Ramazanov, former football player of the Azerbaijani national team, to Sport24.az
- The new head coach of the national team will be announced soon. Who do you think should be brought to this position?
- We have been saying this for years. The national team should only be entrusted to a local specialist. Whoever is brought in, it should only be an Azerbaijani head coach. We have all seen that we cannot achieve good results with foreigners.
- Is there any local specialist you would like to see in the national team?
- I can't name anyone right now. Are there few head coaches in our country? There are 50 specialists with Pro category.
- The team is waiting for an away match with France in the qualifying round of WC-2026. Do you think we can avoid a big defeat?
- Well, what can I say? It will be very difficult and hard. I don't believe we can do anything on this trip. Just no big defeat. I wish the team good luck again.
- "Qarabag" won its first victory in the main stage of the Champions League. What can you say about this?
- This is a historic result. "Qarabag" is already respected in Europe. The team also makes us happy. May these achievements continue.
- Do you think it is impossible to think about the next stage after defeating "Benfica"?
- I think "Qarabag" has enough experience for this. The team also played in the 1/8 final stage of the Europa League. I think that points will be scored in the next 7 matches as well. I expect them to advance to the playoffs. Why not?
