Yuri Vernidub, the head coach of the Neftchi football club, commented on reports of Iran's rocket attack on Nakhchivan.
Idman.Biz, citing sport.ua, reports that the Ukrainian specialist said that the strike was carried out on the city's airport near the Iranian border.
"I know that Nakhchivan - a city near the Iranian border - was attacked. It seems that two "Shahid" hit the airport. Fortunately, there were no casualties, only damage to nearby buildings," Vernidub noted.
According to the coach, the Azerbaijani authorities reacted immediately to what happened:
"The Azerbaijani authorities immediately expressed their position with a note of protest. Terrible events are happening in the world: Dubai, Abu Dhabi, other major cities in the Middle East countries are suffering. It gives the impression that the Third World War is approaching."
Vernidub also emphasized that the situation remains calm in the country's capital:
"Of course, appropriate security measures have been taken. But I don't know the details, because I am at the club's base from morning to evening and I am engaged in football matters. I can say that there is currently calm in Baku," the expert added.
