Interview with Yure Travner, the former Slovenian football player of the "Baku" club, which has gone down in history, to Sport24.az
- What are you doing now?
- I work as a coach in my hometown of Lasko. I work with the U-13 team, as well as with children in primary school and kindergartens. In addition, I still play football at the amateur level in Austria.
- How do you remember your time in Azerbaijan?
- I have great memories of your country and especially of "Baku". The center of Baku is really very beautiful. We had a great time there with our teammates.
- Did you keep in touch after leaving the club?
- Yes, I did. I remember well. In "Baku" we really had a good team and coaching staff. I enjoyed playing in this team. I think if we had stayed together, we would have achieved better results. I was very disappointed when the club went bankrupt.
- Did you receive any other offers in Azerbaijan?
- I had offers from England and went to that country to play for "Reading".
- Then you played for the Slovenian club "Selye" for five years. What can you say about this team?
- This was also my first professional club. I also completed the contract with them with a championship. Since then, the club has developed a lot, especially financially. This is already reflected in the results. They also played very well in the European Cups last season.
- "Selye" will face "Sabah" in the UEFA Europa League. Which team do you think is the favorite?
- I think "Selye" is the favorite. But this is not as much as the public thinks. It will be a very tense match.
