"Not just this game, like everyone else, I want our national team to leave all matches with successful results. But our group is very difficult." These words were said by Yunis Huseynov in his statement to Sport24.az.
The former football player of the Azerbaijan national team, currently a specialist in the coaching staff of "Turan Tovuz", shared his views on the qualifying match of DÇ-2026 against Iceland:
"The Icelandic national team prefers athletic football, while we like to play with the ball. In the first game, the motivation of the players is at a high level. We cannot perform well against teams that prefer power football and play well in the "second tier". This has always been the case. I have said and I remain of the opinion that the abolition of the legionnaire limit will affect our national team. Not only me, but all local coaches have said this. I wish the national team to win all games and advance to the final stage. But realistically speaking, a point in the game against Iceland can be considered a good result."
It should be noted that the Iceland-Azerbaijan match, which will be held on September 5, will start at 22:45 Baku time.
