Defender Yeray Alvarez of "Athletic" has tested positive for doping.
Idman.biz reports that the 30-year-old footballer shared this on his social media account.
Alvarez's test, given in the semi-final stage of the Europa League against "Manchester United", was positive. The footballer confirms that the banned substance entered his body as a result of taking medication for alopecia. Yeray, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2016, underwent a course of chemotherapy. Alvarez admitted in his statement that he has been treated for alopecia for many years.
No announcement has been made yet about the duration of the disqualification.
It should be noted that the defender, who has been playing for "Athletic" since 2016, has played 257 games for the team.
