"I consider it a great success for AFFA that "Qarabağ" will play in the main stage of the Champions League in 2025, and that the U-20 World Championship, which will be held in 2027, will be given to Azerbaijan along with Uzbekistan." Yashar Seyidov said this in his statement to Sport24.az.
The experienced functionary shared his views on the events in the country's football this year:
"It is also possible to evaluate as a success the step-by-step implementation of the strategy adopted by AFFA for the development of football, and the fact that Azerbaijan will be represented by 4 FIFA referees in the international arena from next year."
Seyidov also spoke about his expectations for 2026:
"I want our national and youth teams, and our clubs that will play in European Cups, to qualify for the groups. I want the teams competing in the Premier League to invite more qualified legionnaires, new football academies to be opened, infrastructure to be renovated, training camps and stadiums to be built, and young talents to grow up who can play in Europe. I believe that the coming year will be more successful for Azerbaijani football."
He also said that he believes in the AFFA leadership:
"I believe that the AFFA leadership, together with the football community, will achieve the goals set for 2026."
