Currently unemployed coach Xavi Hernandez has spoken about his time at "Barcelona."
According to Lent.az, citing foreign media, the former coach recalled the mistakes he made while leading the Catalan club.
"I started my coaching career at Barca by setting high standards for the players and the club. The club was going through a period where there weren't many demands. But my mistake was maintaining these high standards in just one year - from the moment I arrived until I won La Liga and the Super Cup.
After a while, I took a critical look at myself and said to myself: "Damn it, what happened to me?" I lowered the high standards, so the players no longer had the previous attitude, the previous respect, and the previous effort.
Standards continued to fall, reaching the point where we couldn't win anything in my last season. I learned a lot from this. You have to criticize yourself," Xavi said.
As is known, the legend of "Camp Nou" was the coach of "Barcelona" for two and a half years. During this period, the Catalan club won the league title in the 2022/23 season and the Spanish Super Cup in 2023. Barcelona's best achievement in the Champions League under Xavi's leadership was reaching the 1/4 finals (2023/24).
