Former Bayern Munich midfielder Xavi Martinez described the difficult situation at Real Madrid after Xabi Alonso's dismissal in early January.
According to Idman.Biz, Martinez believes that even Guardiola could not have succeeded there in such a situation.
"I don't know exactly what happened at Real Madrid. I texted Xabi Alonso, but he didn't reply - he probably turned off his phone those days. I'm sure he would have succeeded in Madrid, but it's a special place, a special club. I don't think even Guardiola would have succeeded there," Martinez said.
He noted that players at Real Madrid should be allowed to feel free.
"You have to do like Mourinho and Ancelotti did. It's important to connect with these players, to create a little anarchy so that they feel free. They should have the opportunity to play freely," the former Bayern Munich midfielder said on beIN Sports.
