Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso has stated that he does not approve of La Liga's decision to hold a championship match in the USA.
Idman.Biz reports that the 17th round match between Villarreal and Barcelona will be held in Miami.
"My opinion remains the same as it was two months ago. We are against it. We believe it corrupts the competition. The protests against the organization of this match are good because they reflect the opinion of many clubs. All clubs are united in their positions," said Alonso.
Earlier, the Spanish Footballers' Association (AFE) announced that the players would symbolically protest the decision to organize the La Liga's 9th round match in the USA at the beginning of all games. On Friday, October 17, the players of Oviedo and Espanyol remained motionless without touching the ball for the first 30 seconds of the match.
