Xabi Alonso has commented on his appointment as Chelsea head coach. Sport24.az reports that the Spanish specialist made a statement on the club's official website about this:
"Chelsea is one of the biggest clubs in world football and I am extremely proud to be the coach of this great club. It became clear from my conversations with the club owners and sports management that we have common goals. We want to build a team that can consistently perform at the highest level and compete for trophies.
The team is full of talented players and has great potential. It will be a great honor for me to lead it. Now the most important thing is to work hard, form the right culture and win trophies."
It should be noted that Alonso's last job was "Real", which he left in January 2026. Before that, Alonso coached Leverkusen "Bayer", with whom he won the German Championship, the German Cup and the German Super Cup.
