Hugo Broos has left his position as head coach of the South Africa national team. According to Sport24, the local federation's press service has announced this.
The Belgian coach has been in charge of the team since 2021. He briefly left "Bafana Bafana" in 2022 but soon returned to his post.
Under Broos' leadership, the South African team won the bronze medal at the 2023 African Nations Cup and participated in the World Cup for the first time in 16 years.
During Broos' tenure as head coach, the African representative qualified for the playoff stage of the World Cup for the first time in history and lost 0-1 to Canada in the round of 16, ending their campaign.
