The truck driver, Jose Azevedo, who witnessed the fatal accident involving Diogo Jota, the forward of the Portuguese national team and Liverpool football club, and his brother Andre Silva, spoke about the details of the tragic event.
"Report" informs that Azevedo's views were published by the Portuguese publication "Record". The truck driver filmed the incident at the time of the accident.
"I was filming and stopped to help, but unfortunately, I couldn't do anything. My conscience is clear. I know what I went through that night. To be honest, I didn't know who was in the car. I offer my condolences to Jota's family. I assure you that they were not speeding. I could see the make and color of the car. I use this road every day from Monday to Saturday and I know it (the road - ed.) is bad. It's a dark road, but I could distinguish the make and color of the car. Unfortunately, what happened happened," he said.
Azevedo tried to help the Portuguese using a fire extinguisher.
It is worth recalling that the footballers died in northwestern Spain. While overtaking, the tire of the "Lamborghini" car driven by Jota burst, as a result of which the car went off the road and caught fire.
The funeral of Jota and his brother Silva, who played for "Penafiel", was held on July 5 in Portugal.
