If the Iranian national team unilaterally withdraws from participating in the WC-2026, it will face serious sanctions from FIFA. Sport24.az reports that "RMC Sport" has reported on this.
According to the source, Iranian national teams may be excluded from all future competitions held under the FIFA flag. The country's football federation will be fined a minimum of 275,000 euros and a maximum of 555,000 euros. The amount depends on the date of the team's withdrawal from the tournament. The FIFA Disciplinary Committee may impose sporting sanctions on the Iranian team, including the deduction of points.
It should be noted that the Iranian national team will compete in Group G in the final stage of the WC-2026, which also includes Belgium, Egypt and New Zealand. All three of the team's matches are planned to be held in the USA.
