The court case regarding the rape charge against French footballer Wissam Ben Yedder has concluded. The criminal case, which began in September 2025 at the request of the prosecutor's office and resulted in a two-year suspended sentence in November, has been overturned on appeal.
Idman.Biz, citing "L"Equipe", reports that the court acquitted the footballer due to insufficient evidence.
After the verdict was announced, Ben Yedder shared his feelings on his social media account:
"I have always declared my innocence. I thank everyone who has supported me from the beginning - my family, my fans, and the public".
The 35-year-old striker, who has been away from the green fields for a while due to court battles, has already been transferred to his new club. He signed a six-month contract with the Moroccan club "Wydad Casablanca" in January of this year. After the court's final decision, the experienced forward is expected to fully focus on his football career.
It should be noted that Ben Yedder has played for clubs such as "Monaco", "Sevilla", and "Toulouse" during his career, scoring three goals in 19 games for the French national team.
