Athletic Bilbao's 23-year-old midfielder Nico Williams has spoken about why he said "no" to a transfer offer from Barcelona. Sport24.az reports that he gave an explanation to GQ Sports about this:
"Athletic and Bilbao are everything to me. Playing in this club and in this city has helped me understand the value of work, humility and family".
It should be noted that the Catalan club made a lot of effort to "tie" Williams to their colors last summer, but the transfer did not take place. The midfielder extended his contract with Athletic in July until 2035. Nico's older brother, 31-year-old striker Iñaki Williams, also wears the Bilbao club's jersey.
