We reported yesterday that Cameroonian national team footballer Vincent Abubakar's transfer to "Neftchi" would not take place. Sport24.az investigated the salary received by the 33-year-old striker in well-known clubs and the amount offered to him by the "white-blacks".
The experienced forward last played for the Turkish representative "Hatayspor". His annual salary was 2.5 million euros (192 thousand euros per month).
When Abubakar returned to "Besiktas" for the second time in the 2023/2024 season, he played for 4.17 million euros per year (320 thousand euros per month). In 2022, he received an annual salary of 6 million euros at the Saudi Arabian club "Al-Nasr". The forward received a salary of 1.75 million euros at "Besiktas" in 2021. The striker agreed to a salary of 2.12 million euros at the Portuguese club "Porto" in 2018-2020, and 1.8 million euros while playing on loan at "Besiktas" in 2017. The Cameroonian player received a low salary in the first years of his career. In 2014, the striker earned 552 thousand euros per year at "Lorient", 661 thousand euros in 2015 at "Porto", and 1.5 million euros in 2016 at "Porto".
"Neftchi" said that they could pay Abubakar a salary of 500-600 thousand euros with a 1+1 year contract. However, the striker said that he could agree to at least 1 million euros.
