The "Shamkir" - "Khankendi" match in the 17th round of the Azerbaijan Second League did not take place. The reason for this was the similarity in the colors of the teams' uniforms.
According to the information provided by the PFL regarding the issue, matters related to playing uniforms are fully regulated by the Second League Regulations. The PFL assessed the "Shamkir" club's failure to comply with the regulations and its refusal to play despite all efforts to resolve the issue as serious negligence and an act contrary to the interests of Azerbaijani football.
"Shamkir" has appealed to the Professional Football League regarding the issue.
"Dear President of the Professional Football League Elkhan Samadov, Vice President Aslan Shahgeldiyev, Head of Department Elgiz Abbasov!
We would like to bring to your attention the situation regarding the failure of the Shamkir FK - Khankendi FK match, which was scheduled to take place within the framework of the Azerbaijan First League in football. According to the official calendar, the starting time of the match was set at 15:00. The players and coaching staff of Shamkir PFK, the home team, entered the field in accordance with all the rules, on time - at 15:00, and waited for the start of the match. However, the opposing team, Khankendi FK, could not start the game due to uniform inconsistency. The Shamkir team waited for its opponent on the field for 45 minutes in accordance with sports ethics and rules. However, the problem was not resolved.
Later, after about 1 hour and 30 minutes, the visiting team tried to enter the field with uniforms without numbers on them. It was noted that these uniforms resembled the design of the "Barcelona" club, but the players did not have numbers on the back.
As you know, according to football rules and the competition regulations, each player's uniform must have a clearly visible number on the back. This requirement is necessary for the referees to correctly record episodes during the game. Thus, goals scored, yellow and red cards shown, and other game episodes are recorded in the official protocol with the players' numbers. Therefore, playing with a numberless uniform cannot be considered in accordance with football rules. Unfortunately, the situation shows that Khankendi FK did not adequately comply with the organizational rules of the competition. On the other hand, it is clear that Shamkir PFK, the home team, was fully prepared for the game, complied with all the rules, and fulfilled the requirements of the regulations.
In this regard, we ask you to give an objective and fair legal assessment of the situation. We are confident that the Professional Football League will also approach this issue fairly in order to protect the rule of law and sports principles in Azerbaijani football," the club's appeal reads.
