FIFA's Director of Development, Arsène Wenger, has come to the fore with an interesting statement. Sport24.az reports that the official said that it is not right for the team that wins the Europa League to qualify for the Champions League:
"The winner of the Europa League should qualify directly for the Europa League in the new season. However, it is necessary to think about the issue of the winner qualifying for the Champions League. UEFA should start dealing with this issue. For example, five teams from the Premier League go to the Champions League. Moreover, if someone wins the Europa League, the number will increase. UEFA should keep this issue in mind."
In the Europa League this season, Tottenham and Manchester United are competing in the semi-final stage. Both teams won their first leg with a big score. Tottenham defeated Norway's Bodo-Glimt (3:1), and Manchester United defeated Spain's Athletic (3:0).
