Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has spoken about his alcohol problems and the help he received from his wife, Coleen.
Idman.biz reports that Rooney and journalist Coleen have been married since 2008. The couple have four sons: Kai Wayne (born 2009), Clay Anthony (2013), Kit Joseph (2016) and Cass Mac (2018).
According to the footballer, he would most likely not have been able to succeed in football if his wife Coleen had not intervened in time.
"I would drink for two days in a row, then come to training and score two goals on the weekend. Then I would drink for two days again. Coleen understood from the age of 17 that I had a problem. I was passionate about both football and entertainment. She realized this quickly and tried to stop me. To be honest, I would have been ruined a long time ago if it wasn't for her. Coleen has been keeping me on the right track as a person and as a footballer for 20 years," Rooney said.
Wayne Rooney played for Manchester United from 2004 to 2017.
