Real Madrid footballer Vinicius Junior has won a court dispute over the use of his name as a brand.
İdman.biz reports, citing AS, that a businessman from La Coruña registered the Brazilian striker's name as a trademark in November 2018. However, Vinicius formalized his own "Vinicius Jr" brand a year earlier.
The businessman argued in court that the footballer was not known at the time and that consumers did not associate the brand with him. However, the courts of La Coruña and the province ruled in favor of the footballer. As a result, the brand's registration was canceled, and all court costs will be paid by the businessman.
It should be noted that the businessman argued that the brand name was linked to the history of the Roman Empire and his family, but these arguments were rejected by the court in 2023.
