Possible changes in football rules regarding the implementation of the VAR system are on the agenda.
İdman.biz, citing "The Times", reports that the International Football Association Board (IFAB) may expand the powers of the video assistant referee (VAR) system.
Thus, VAR referees may be allowed to intervene in second yellow card episodes and incorrectly awarded corner kicks.
Rule changes related to the VAR system have already been discussed in the highest governing bodies of football. However, for the changes to take effect, they must be approved at the annual IFAB meeting in March next year. If the new rules are approved, they will come into effect on June 1 - before the World Cup.
At the same time, penalty rules may also be changed. According to the new proposal, if the goalkeeper saves a penalty kick, the episode will be considered over, and the attacking team will not be able to send the ball into the goal with a repeat kick.
