The well-known Russian head coach Valeri Nepomnyashchy reacted to the news that FIFA is ready to host the 2030 World Cup with 64 teams.
Idman.biz reports that the expert has a negative attitude to this innovation.
"Anything is possible in our world - there can be 24, 32 or 64 teams in the World Cup. FIFA has one goal: to get rich and earn as much as possible. This is a commercial enterprise, a business, due to its structure. If they have calculated everything - there are probably people who know how to calculate well - then half of the world will be in the final of the World Cup.
In terms of sports quality, the World Cup lags behind the Champions League or individual national championships. For example, the Spanish national team has to play Honduras or someone like that. What is the point of such a World Cup for the Spaniards? But business is business, you have to put up with it," Nepomnyashchy told "Championship".
