Ruy Jorge's appointment to the Azerbaijan national team is a step calculated for the future.
This was stated to "Report" by Vagif Sadigov, chairman of the AFFA Coaches Committee.
He spoke about the appointment of Ruy Jorge as the head coach of the Azerbaijani national team consisting of football players under 20:
"If any changes are made in a team, then there are positive thoughts about the future. I think that the AFFA leadership is seriously preparing for the World Championship and Ruy Jorge's appointment is a step calculated for the future. The leadership is working to ensure that the national team achieves success. In fact, not much time is left until the World Cup. However, we must be as careful as possible and not make mistakes in our choices. We believe that in the World Championship, which will be held for the first time in Azerbaijan, our team will achieve successful results in front of its fans. Each of us must support our team to the end."
It should be noted that the Azerbaijan U-20 national team will represent our country at the FIFA U-20 World Championship, which will be held in Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan in 2027. A few days ago, AFFA announced the appointment of Portuguese specialist Ruy Jorge as the head coach of the U-20 national team.
