"Neftchi" absolutely had to win yesterday's match to continue its bid for European cups." These words were said by Vagif Sadigov in his statement to Sport24.az.
The chairman of the Coaches Committee commented on the "Neftchi" - "Turan Tovuz" match that took place yesterday.
He added that the point difference between the "white-blacks" and "Turan Tovuz" in the tournament table has greatly increased:
"Although there were not many goal episodes in the first half, the flagship made a better impression. There were quality attacks. The people of Tovuz, true to their tradition, stood out with reliable defense. After the break, they took maximum advantage of almost the first chance they got and won. Jo Batista turned a very beautiful cross from the flank into a goal. After that, Vitali Vernidub tried to change the result, but it didn't work out. I think a fair result would have been a draw. Such things happen in football. By lining up victories, "Turan Tovuz" has increased its claim to bronze medals. After this game, Neftchi's chances of qualifying for European cups have decreased significantly."
It should be noted that the match between "Neftchi" and "Turan Tovuz" ended with a minimal victory for the guests - 1:0.
