AFFA took the right step by dismissing Fernando Santos from the post of head coach of the national team.
Vagif Sadigov, chairman of the Coaches Committee of the organization, said this in his statement to "Report".
The expert said that this was an expected decision:
"Both in the last games and in general, from the first day until now, Fernando Santos' activity did not satisfy the AFFA leadership. The defeat against Iceland, which is not stronger than us, overflowed the cup of patience. Let's hope that the steps taken after this will be for the benefit of Azerbaijani football. AFFA took the right step. There was no more room to endure and wait."
It should be noted that Fernando Santos was appointed as the head coach of the Azerbaijani national team in June last year. The contract with the Portuguese specialist was mutually terminated today.
