"The toughest games in the Premier League are usually in the last few rounds of the season. "Sabah" has to fight not only with "Qarabağ", but also with itself." These words were said by Vagif Sadigov, chairman of the Coaching Committee, in his statement to Sport24.az.
Speaking about the fight for the championship in the Misli Premier League, he stated that the situation is not yet fully clear with 7 rounds left until the end of the season:
"If the team feels like a champion now, the upcoming games may be difficult for them. Most of the teams in the tournament table have not yet secured their place in the Premier League, nor have they secured a place in the European Cups. Psychologically, a team that considers itself a champion prematurely can "burn out". What we see is that "Sabah" does not approach this issue as a champion, but prepares seriously for each game. Yuri Vernidub's arrival at "Neftchi" was a successful step by the management. The purpose of inviting the Ukrainian specialist was not only to think about the future, but also not to lose this season. I think we are already witnessing a team that is regaining its former determination from game to game and playing more meaningful football. Nothing is over yet, the tension will continue until the end. Since we are "Neftchi" fans, we hope that the team will reach its goal."
It should be noted that after 26 rounds in the Premier League, "Sabah" is in the lead with 65 points. "Qarabağ" is in second place with 55 points. The first "top three" is completed by "Turan Tovuz" with 49 points.
