The Uzbekistan national team has qualified for the World Cup for the first time. Sport24.az reports that the country's leadership has not remained indifferent to this historic achievement.
Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev awarded the players and head coach of the national team, Timur Kapadze, the title of "Honorary Citizen of Uzbekistan" for reaching the final stage of the 2026 World Cup. In addition, the first vice-president of the Uzbekistan Football Association, Ravshan Irmatov, was awarded the "For Dedicated Service" medal, and members of the team's coaching staff were awarded the "Friendship" order.
By order of the President of the country, all football players were also presented with a BYD car made in China.
It should be noted that the Uzbekistan national team drew 0:0 with the United Arab Emirates team in the 9th round of the Asian zone of the 2026 World Cup qualifying round. The Uzbeks secured a ticket to the final stage of the World Cup with one round to go.
