"It was the first game of the championship. We knew it would be difficult."
Idman.biz reports that these words were said by Urfan Abbasov, the captain of "Araz-Nakhchivan," in an interview with Sport24.az.
The winger shared his thoughts on the first-round match of the Misli Premier League, which they drew (1:1) away against "Zira": "We had also come from a tough away game. There was both physical and psychological fatigue. The defeats in the games against "Omonia" had affected us a bit badly. But in the first round, we tried our best. Although our game didn't go well, we didn't lose. We will focus on the next matches. We need to get in optimal shape."
Abbasov said that they unexpectedly conceded a goal in the first half: "Our head coach gave his specific instructions during the break. We tried to turn the match around. It was a tough game. But at least we were able to get a point."
He also touched upon the tension between the players on the field: "Both teams don't want to lose. Maybe that's why there is tension. "Zira" also wanted to win like us. We go out for three points in every match. Nobody wants to lose. We see this in the matches as well. We watched all the matches in the opening round. Everyone wants to win points, so they fight on the field."
Finally, Abbasov also spoke about the goals of the Nakhchivan representative in the current season: "The desire of all teams is to fight for high places. That's our opinion as well. We plan to be among the medalists."
