There have been changes in the list of participants in the first qualifying round of the Europa League, where Azerbaijan will be represented by one club.
Idman.biz reports that this is due to the fact that "Chelsea" and "Betis", who will face each other in the Conference League final, have qualified for continental tournaments from their championships.
The English club has won the right to play in the Champions League, and the Spanish representative in the League stage of the Europa League. Since the future winner of the Conference League has already obtained this qualification, the distribution of other teams has been changed.
The highest-ranked team in the qualifying rounds will advance directly to the League stage of the Europa League. This team will be either Ukraine's "Shakhtar" or Zagreb's "Dinamo". Which of them will reach the main round of the Europa League depends on the Croatian Cup final.
If "Rijeka", which won the championship title, defeats "Slaven" in the final, "Dinamo" will advance to the League stage as vice-champion. Then "Shakhtar" will fall into the seeded teams in the first qualifying round. If "Slaven" wins the cup and a ticket to the Europa League, "Shakhtar" will advance to the League stage, and the Belupo representative will play in the first qualifying round. As a result of these changes, "Ilves", which was supposed to play in the Conference League, also advanced to the Europa League.
Azerbaijan will be represented in this tournament by "Zira" or "Sabah". This will be clarified in the final match of the national cup, which will be held on May 31.
