UEFA has reacted to the cancellation of the La Liga match in the USA.
Earlier, La Liga announced the postponement of the Villarreal-Barcelona match, which was scheduled to be held in Miami.
"UEFA welcomes La Liga's decision. Our position on league matches played abroad is clear.
UEFA reiterates its clear opposition to domestic league games taking place outside their own territory. Following a meeting of the Executive Committee in Tirana last month, UEFA has conducted further consultations with stakeholders to assess the full consequences of this issue, following requests received from the Spanish and Italian national football associations.
These consultations confirmed that there is no support, within the football community and beyond, for the idea of exporting domestic league games," the statement said.
