The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) will not support the idea of implementing an offside rule in football as recommended by former Arsenal coach Arsène Wenger.
Idman.Biz reports this with reference to The Times newspaper.
According to reports, UEFA considers the reform too radical and could significantly shift team tactics towards a defensive position.
UEFA is ready to offer a compromise in which offside positions will be considered not only on the body, legs and head. It is emphasized that the final decision will not be made until the 2026 World Cup. A vote on changing the offside rule will be held after further testing in lower leagues.
It should be reminded that Wenger's "offside" rule suggests that a player should only be considered offside if their entire body is in front of the last defender.
