The "School Girls" tournament, organized in cooperation with AFFA and the Ministry of Science and Education with the support of UEFA, has been launched.
Idman.Biz reports with reference to the official website of AFFA that the first games were held among girls aged 7-9 (born in 2016, 2017 and 2018) in secondary school No. 242, selected as the center for the Nizami district (group C), and 4 teams competed.
First, the teams of schools No. 238 and 242 met, and then the teams of schools No. 210 and 251.
At the opening ceremony of the tournament, Zumrud Agayeva, head of the AFFA Women's Football Department, Habib Agayev, head coach of our national team under 19, and Sevinc Bayramova, director of school No. 242, spoke and wished all participants success.
It should be noted that the "School Girls" tournament is a pilot project designed for girls aged 7-9. Initially, this season it is planned to hold the project in 2 regions - in 20 selected state and private schools in Baku and in 10 schools in Lankaran.
The main goal in organizing the tournament is to create interest in football among girls from an early age by creating the AFFA U-10 Girls League next season and to attract new football players to the national teams in the lower age group in the future.
