UEFA has rejected the application of English Premier League clubs to expand the squad list for the Champions League.
"Report" reports with reference to "The Guardian" that although the Premier League representatives wanted the number of players in the application to be increased from 25 to 28, the continental football organization did not accept this proposal.
Representatives of Spanish clubs spoke out in favor of not changing the current regulations.
The Spaniards believe that if the squad list is expanded, English clubs may use their financial advantages to create an uneven competitive environment in the tournament. For this reason, UEFA has retained the existing rules.
It was noted that this issue could be considered before the start of the 2027/2028 season.
