Yeray Alvarez, defender of the Spanish club "Athletic", opponent of "Qarabağ" in the main stage of the UEFA Champions League, has been disqualified for 10 months for violating anti-doping rules.
"Report" informs that the UEFA press service has released information about this.
It is noted that Alvarez underwent a doping test after the first semi-final match of the Europa League against "Manchester United" (England) last season and tested positive.
His penalty period is calculated from June 2. The disqualification will end on April 2, 2026.
It should be noted that 30-year-old Alvarez has been playing for "Athletic" since 2016. He won the Spanish Super Cup with the team in 2021, and the Spanish Cup in 2024.
The "Athletic" - "Qarabağ" game will be held on October 22.
