The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) is discussing the possibility of excluding Israeli football clubs from international tournaments.
Idman.Biz reports with reference to "The Athletic" that the discussion has been ongoing since the end of September, after several national football associations called on UEFA to put to a vote the issue of whether Israel should be allowed to participate in competitions in the future, after the ceasefire declared between Israel and Hamas.
At the meetings, the parties discussed the legal mechanisms that could allow the introduction of such a ban.
It is noted that UEFA does not intend to exclude Israel on its own initiative, avoiding confrontation with other sports organizations. However, the organization is closely monitoring the legal proceedings being conducted in Ireland and Switzerland, which could theoretically force the alliance to act within the framework of international law.
