According to UEFA's official website, all UEFA club competition matches this week will begin with a minute of silence in memory of Mircea Lucescu, the former head coach of the Romanian national team.
Idman.Biz reports that Lucescu passed away on Tuesday, April 7, at the age of 80. Lucescu was hospitalized after his condition worsened during training with the Romanian national team. He was diagnosed with acute myocardial infarction and was placed in an artificial coma on Sunday, April 5, when his condition deteriorated.
Lucescu's last coaching position was with the Romanian national team, and he lost 1-0 to Turkey in the play-off stage to qualify for the 2026 World Cup.
