UEFA has decided to approve the holding of two matches of the Spanish and Italian championships outside of these countries.
According to "Report", this is stated in a statement published by the organization's press service.
Earlier, the Spanish Football Federation sent a request for the match between Barcelona and Villarreal to be held in Miami, while the Italian Football Federation approved the idea of holding the match between Milan and Como in Australia.
"Although we regret the necessity of holding these two matches outside the countries, this decision is exceptional and should not be taken as a precedent. Our goal is clear: to protect the integrity of national leagues and ensure that football remains in its native environment," said UEFA President Aleksander Čeferin.
"The Executive Committee of the Union of European Football Associations reluctantly decided to approve the two requests sent to it as an exceptional case. UEFA, under the leadership of the International Football Federation, will actively participate in the development of future rules that will ensure the integrity of national competitions and close ties between clubs, their fans and local communities," the UEFA statement said.
It should be noted that the match between Barcelona and Villarreal is scheduled for December 21, and the match between Milan and Como is scheduled for February 6.
