"Montenegrin players were insulting the head referee." These words were said by Vugar Mustafayev in his statement to Sport24.az.
Mustafayev, assistant to U-21 head coach Aykhan Abbasov, spoke about the mass brawl that occurred after the match between the Azerbaijan national team of under-21 football players and Montenegro (0:0):
"The opponent's players went after the referee. Our players also tried to push them away to protect the referee. Rashad Ahmadov is one of us. Therefore, the guys did not accept the pressure from the visiting players on him. Everything started from there. When we went to separate the players, they also behaved aggressively towards us. True, it is an unpleasant situation, but in such situations, we must defend each other as Azerbaijanis."
It should be noted that the Azerbaijan-Montenegro match held in Sumgayit yesterday ended goalless.
