Azerbaijan's U-19 national football team has completed its matches in Malta as part of the qualifying round of the European Championship.
Idman.Biz reports that the head coach of the national team, Elkhan Abdullayev, gave a statement to the AFFA press service regarding the match.
He stated that the 1:6 defeat to the Czech Republic in the first match of the group is explained by the strength of the opponent and the red card received by our footballer Hikmat Jabrayilzade in the 75th minute:
"In the second match, the team, which lost 0:1 to Northern Ireland, fought head-to-head with them and created scoring opportunities. In the last game, they won 2:1 against Malta".
The head coach emphasized that the players showed character despite fatigue and motivation differences in the team.
Elkhan Abdullayev noted that he was generally satisfied with the team, regardless of the result, and said that the squad has potential, and more work needs to be done with the clubs to achieve successful results.
